I think more likely that there is no such thing as a "free thinker." Biblically, this is based on the idea that you either a slave to the Lord, or a slave to your father, the Devil (as Christ said). There are no "neutral parties" in this war.
Practically, almost every so-called "free thinker" I've heard from gets their opinions off atheist web sites and newsletters.
Basically, it means if you think for yourself, you are on Satan's side. It's another way that religious organizations try to scare people into not asking the important questions about their faith.
All these definitions are pretty good and fit with the sign. It's kind of like saying, "I hate judgmental people!" which is, of course, judging. Free thinkers believe in science/reason/logic, dismissing the idea of God, which actually gives Satan a foothold. Ironic.

I guess they are saying that people who think for themselves will make choices that are not based on God's will.

A "free thinker" is an atheist. So the funny point is the play with the word free and being a slave.
